I have been asked many times “Why did you chose that cover for your CD – Day of Wrath?”. I have tried to explain in few words of my choice. So here is my detailed explanation:
By the end of August 2012 all the tracks from the album Day of Wrath were ready to be mastered in Germany and to be burned on the first official CD under a record label. Therefore I went to Bucharest to register all my songs and scores to UCMR-ADA ( a Romanian institution that protect any artist and his opera against plagiarism and in the same time is collecting the royalties in behalf of the musicians or composers).
Praying to God for a sign
The audio part was almost done by that time but another important thing was missing: THE COVER. I knew that the cover must be important, to mean something. I didn’t wanted to take a picture of myself playing piano or to ask for a modern painter to draw something indistinctly, something abstract that means nothing and everything in the same time. Why NOT? because I knew since I was young that my music must mean something, must have a story, and I swore that I will never write down a musical note unless I’m inspired.
So, back to that day, after I have finished my paper work in that institution I left praying to GOD for a sign, for a vision or something to know what kind of cover I need. I had some ideas by that time, but none of them were good. I knew that the main theme of the album is a religious one, a lot of songs being inspired from different stories, mitts, and other spiritual states of mind, in fact all of my songs are for me a state of mind, a spiritual manifestation of myself. I believe in God and His universal laws, I obey to them so I wanted to have Him, somehow, on my cover. With this in mind I crossed the street to wait for a taxi and suddenly my view stopped on a church, St Basil the Great. By that time I was with one of my PR managers from Romania. I said to her: I must get closer to this church, maybe they will let me in… She agreed with me and one minute later I was in front of this beauty, with the All Seeing Eye watching over me.
Inside the church were 2 columns of bronze and many elements inside that church reminded me of Temple of Solomon, described in the Old Testament in the Bible. I said to my self: This is It! This must be on the cover of Day of Wrath!
The Pyramid symbol:
In The Tarot Deck you can find 78 cards. 22 are included in Major Arcana and 56 in Minor Arcana. The Tarot deck was brought to Europe from Egypt by some gypsies in the 14th century. It is said that the Tarot deck was seen for the first time by a monk in an Italian square market and he ran as fast as he could to his nobles saying that he saw a game that holds the whole mystery of human soul. The 56 cards from the Minor Arcana are structured like this: 14 cards of WANDS, 14 cards of COUPS, 14 Cards of SWORDS and 14 cards of PENTACLES.
I felt attracted to occultism, religion and spirituality since….ever. Therefore I’ve studied this things for many years and I have discovered that our entire society is structured exactly the same, like in the Tarot cards, as a Pyramid. The base of the pyramid is the place where most of the people are: the working people. Men and women who are meant to do the hard work for the society. In Rider Wite tarot deck most of this people are blond with blue eyes and they are called THE WANDS PEOPLE. A step higher you’ll find THE COUPS people. This persons usually are the ones who take care of the soul: writers, musicians, priests, hermits, poets, etc. They are depicted with brown eyes, dark blond or brown hair.
A higher step is the category of the SWORDS PEOPLE. in the modern society they will be in the army, police, lawyers, judges anything that’s connected with the law and the control of the base of this social pyramid. They are depicted with Dark eyes, dark hair and dark skin. Usually they are cold people and the only thing they care of is war, law, use of brute force if necessary to keep a balance between the other layers of the society.
On top of the Pyramid we will find THE PENTACLES or COINS people. They are meant to supply with money the entire pyramid, therefore they decide the value of things, the payment of everyone and they take care of anything that’s connected with politics, banks, other financial institution, etc. They now only a game and that’s THE MONEY GAME. Usually, in this European tarot deck they are represented with white hair, light blue or green eyes, sometimes dark eyes, white or even pinky skin etc. Of course, we cannot consider ad literal these colors now, in the present because we are facing a phenomenon called GLOBALIZATION.
On top of EVERYTHING that is created, on top of all that is seen and unseen is THE ALL SEEING EYE. (more about The Eye of Providence here)
God is watching over us and this is the meaning of my cover album.
I hope this explanation will shed light about me being an occultist, or part of I don’t know witch religious sect. I am inspired by God in everything I do-my life, my music, my everything. This is what I meant thru this cover, is my version, it is a peace of art and is the expression of my will for my album. Thank you!
